the area around Burj Khalifa, the Dubai fountain and Dubai Mall. It's a much nicer area than near the airport and you'll have these three attractions and countless cafes and restaurants on your doorstep. It will take you less than 20 minutes to get back to the airport so it's really not worth staying in the not so nice area around the airport to save time.
